The Beijing Geriatric Hospital has set up a center to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases with help from Beijing Anzhen Hospital, in an effort to provide better care to senior patients.

Cardiovascular experts from Anzhen Hospital will visit patients at the geriatric hospital on Tuesdays and Fridays, said Shen Xiaoxin, a public relations official at the geriatric hospital.

Experts from Anzhen will help perform surgeries in complicated or difficult cardiovascular cases.

Zhou Yujie, deputy director of Anzhen Hospital, one of the top hospitals in the country for cardiovascular treatment, said "there is a limited number of beds in Anzhen, and many people aged 80 or above don't have the opportunity to come to our hospital for treatment. Thus our experts need to go out to other hospitals to help treat them.

"Also, the geriatric hospital has a recovering center as large as a gymnasium, and it is probably the most experienced government-funded hospital for senior people."
