He pointed that medical ethics is as important as techniques. Hospitals, while improving medical techniques and management, had to attach importance to the cultivation of medical ethics on the part of their medical staff. He asked the hospitals to keep in mind their historical missions, go on carrying forward glorious traditions, implement tasks of healthcare reform in the development of the hospitals, conduct active research on modernized management of public hospitals, highlight inner construction, make constant innovations and push forward healthy development.

He hoped that the hospitals could continue delivering partnership assistance and conducting long-distance consultations, making use of high quality medical resources to expand the coverage area of such services, earnestly implement the guidelines and requirements of the practice activities centered on the Party’s Mass Line, and help and support the development of the medical and healthcare industry in poverty-stricken areas. He also suggested that hospitals affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University should provide partnership assistance to hospitals in poverty-stricken counties in Heyuan city, Guangdong province, with the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University supporting hospitals in Lianping county so that more ordinary people can have access to medical services of high quality.
