China attends 67th World Health Assembly

Many countries emphasized that enough importance to be attached to health in the global development agenda after 2015. The national health system should be included in the agenda to stress health as a basic human right for impartiality.

Member countries praised the WHO for its progress in reform, and urged the WHO to accelerate reform in governance. They also required that the regional committee meeting should deliberate framework documents signed by the WHO and non-state actors. The documents should be submitted to the 68th World Health Assembly through the executive committee.

Several other issues were also discussed, including violence to women and children, global prevention and control of non-infectious diseases, the implementation of international health regulations, the fight against counterfeit medical products, and the reinforcement of a drug regulation system.

The Chinese delegation attended the council, committee meeting, drafting group meeting and technology presentation, and participated in all discussions and statements, making a positive contribution to the assembly.

In addition, the Chinese delegation signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in prevention and cure of schistosomiasis with Zanzibar; attended the newborn seminar; the BRICS health ministers’ meeting; the ASEAN-China, Japan andKorea health ministers’ dinner; the forum about the implementation of international health regulations; and the forum about the national health system in the ASEAN countries.
