Vice-Minister Ma Xiaowei visits Poland and Romania

In Romania, Ma Xiaowei held talks with Nicolae Bănicioiu, minister of health; Dorel Sandesc, secretary of state; and Rodica Nassar, chairperson of the committee for health and family in the parliament. Ma signed an agreement of medical science cooperation between the two countries’ health ministries with Minister Nicolae Bănicioiu. Both sides said they would enhance mutual understanding and promote cooperation between mutual medical institutions. The delegation also visited several medical institutions such as Floreasca Hospital and held talks with Doina Mihaila, head of the general practitioner association.
During the visit to the two countries, Ma said that China, similar with Poland and Romania, is in transition. The three countries have similar healthcare systems, which means that there is huge potential for cooperation.
In 2013, Premier Li Keqiang met Central and Eastern European leaders at a summit where the Bucharest Guidelines for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries were adopted, providing opportunities for deepening cooperation in areas such as the health sector. China’s NHFPC is willing to conduct full cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, promote mutual exchange between medical personnel and experts, and enhance cooperation in medical science, Ma said.
