15th China Population Culture Awards given
After a three-month process, selections of radio, film, and television works were made for the 15th China Population Culture Awards.
The selections include 472 pieces of works from 42 departments, including local health and family planning departments, local film and television associations as well as departments of PLA and the armed police.
The jury committee finally chose six works for the first prize, 18 works for second prize and 30 works for third price. The Outstanding Prize has 33 winners, and the Organizing Prize has 18 winners. The award list has been approved by the organizing committee.
The documentary A Bite of China (the first season) was given a special jury prize.
Li Jinhua, vice-chairman of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the China Population Culture Promotion Association, gave a speech at a meeting of the organizing committee for the awards on June 25.
Since the China Population Culture Awards was established in 1983, it adhered to the core value of socialism and focused on key points of the Party’s publicity and its health and family planning work. The selection paid attention to outstanding popular cultural art works, enabling the China Population Culture Awards to become strong and influential, said Li, who is also director of the organizing committee.
The government-sponsored awards should be standardized in the selection process, Li said.
During a meeting of the organizing committee on June 23, Cui Li, deputy head of NHFPC and executive deputy head of the China Population Culture Promotion Association, issued letters of appointment to the jury.
Cui, also deputy director of the organizing committee of the awards, encouraged related departments to focus on the key points of health and family planning and create good inspiring works, combining the trend of healthcare and family planning as well as the challenges and requirements. Based on the works, the China Population Culture Awards could play an important role in promoting development of health and family planning, Cui said.
