The official English website (http://en.nhfpc.gov.cn/) of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC (NHFPC) was launched on June 28 in Beijing. Li Bin, minister of the NHFPC, sent her best wishes to the website, and Cui Li, vice-minister of the NHFPC, attended the launch ceremony and delivered a speech.

Sponsored by the NHFPC and co-constructed by Chinadaily.com.cn, the official website will be a platform for releasing health and family planning news, policies and events. It will also offer services for foreigners living and working in China.

The website has 10 columns, including About, News Center, Notices, International Exchanges, Blueprint, Policies, Resources, Services, Features and Multimedia Gallery. It will be an important channel for netizens both at home and abroad who want to know about China’s health and family planning.

According to Li Bin, the health level of Chinese residents has improved over the years. Health and health maintenance have become a common concern for all mankind. The NHFPC should pay more attention to international exchanges and cooperation in health and family planning. The English website should serve as a window to allow more foreigners to learn about China and its healthcare situation.

Cui Li stressed in her speech that the English website should be an important platform for the publicity of national health and family planning. Departments of the NHFPC and its institutions should play their roles in promoting the website’s improvement.

The ceremony was hosted by Mao Qun’an, director-general of the department of communications. Qu Yingpu, vice editor-in-chief of China Daily, and persons in charge of relevant departments of the NHFPC and its institutions also attended the ceremony.
