NHFPC holds national conference on sex ratio at birth
On July 26, a conference on the country’s sex ratio at birth management was held in Beijing. The conference aims to implement the decisions of the CPC Central Committee and State Council to lower the sex ratio at birth, one of the targets set in the 12th Five-Year Plan.

Li Bin, minister of the NHFPC, attended the conference and delivered a speech. The conference was presided over by Wang Pei’an, vice-minister of the NHFPC.

In recent years, the comprehensive control of the sex ratio has made progress. The management system has improved, with a leading work group for sex ratio at birth control set by the NHFPC as well as groups set at local levels.
Publicity on the issue has been strengthened, with lots of campaigns implemented in different regions. An interest-oriented policy system was established across China to promote the growth of girls and the development of families with girls.
