Health departments take part in disaster relief work for Yunnan earthquake

A 30-person medical team and a five-person epidemic prevention team, arranged by the Zhaotong city health bureau, arrived to the earthquake-stricken area on the evening of Aug 3. A medical team with 65 people, from five provincial hospitals and Qujing city hospitals, as well as an epidemic prevention team with 13 people, arranged by Yunnan provincial health departments, also arrived in the earthquake area on Aug 3.

The NHFPC arranged three medical teams with a total of 85 people from nearby Sichuan province and Chongqing as well as 17 emergency vehicles, which arrived on the morning of Aug 4. Meanwhile, 22 healthcare experts from Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai will arrive in the earthquake area on Aug 4 to support medical rescue work. As of 6am, Aug 4, a total of 785 medical workers and 134 vehicles at different levels have arrived in Ludian county for rescue work, bringing medical equipment and disinfection materials.
