Health departments take part in disaster relief work for Yunnan earthquake
Three national health emergency teams with vehicles are standing by in Sichuan province and Chongqing to depart for Ludian if needed.
According to the NHFPC, medical resources will be integrated and the commission will focus on the golden period for rescue, which occurs in the 72 hours after the earthquake hits, to classify injuries, carry out emergency treatment and transfer patients. Resources will be concentrated for medical treatment especially for critically injured people.
A public health risk assessment will be conducted to monitor infectious diseases, food and water sanitation, and disinfection. The aim is to effectively prevent epidemics caused by the disaster and emergency incidents of public health, the NHFPC said.
