Health departments provide relief in Yunnan
After an earthquake hit Ludian, Yunnan province, on August 3, the National Health and Family Planning Commission immediately dispatched an expert team to the region to rescue injured people. At the same time, disease control departments at the provincial, municipal and county level have made efforts to prevent epidemics.
The expert team assessed the risks of infectious diseases and public health emergency in the earthquake-stricken area. It formulated six working plans in epidemic monitoring, healthy drinking water, post disaster environmental health, disinfection treatment, biological control of disease vectors and psychological crisis intervention.
The NHFPC will provide a timely purchase channel and assistance to transport medical instruments according to the needs of rescue work in the earthquake-stricken area.
