Six departments supervise Ebola prevention work in major cities and provinces
To better prevent and handle Ebola hemorrhagic fever, six Chinese departments – including the National Health and Family Planning Commission; the Ministry of Public Security; the General Ministration of Customs; the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine – have teamed up into five supervision groups to inspect Ebola prevention work in Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Guangdong, as well as give requirements and advice to prevention work in these areas.

The supervision groups’ inspection focuses on entry and exit ports, designated hospitals, and disease control and prevention institutions in order to learn about the situation of inspection and quarantine at ports as well as work for transferring and treating suspected patients. The groups suggest that departments should cooperate with each other to further improve the information sharing system between the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the Ministry of Public Security, the General Ministration of Custom, the inspection and quarantine department, and the civil aviation department. The prevention work should make people’s health a priority. It should specify the prevention and handling plan according to different situations. The medical institutions should strengthen monitoring on patients to identify cases. The relevant departments should cooperate together on Ebola research, testing and related training to prevent Ebola thoroughly.
