Cui Li, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), met with a medical delegation of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) on September 1 in Beijing.

Cui reviewed the achievements of cross-Straits cooperation in contagious disease notification, hospital management, food safety, emergency aid and treatment, TCM, and Taiwan residents’ open medical institutions on the Chinese mainland. She said that medicine and healthcare are related to the health and happiness of cross-Straits people, which concerns both sides. She hoped that both sides can further cooperate in the medical and healthcare sector to better guarantee people’s health.

Both sides exchanged ideas about the cooperation of drug clinic tests and reached a consensus on pushing forward to establish standards of healthcare, medical quality, medical and healthcare informatization, professional training and medical terminology.

Related people from SEF and people in charge of the NHFPC’s Office of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs; Health Emergency Response Office; Bureau of Medical Administration; and Department of Health Science, Technology and Education attended the meeting.
