On September 15, Chen Xiaohong, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), met with a visiting team led by María del Carmen Concepción González, Cuba’s minister of food industries. They discussed exchanges and cooperation about food safety between China and Cuba.

In July, during President Xi Jinping's visit to Cuba, the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and health care. Chen said that China values the cooperation with Cuba in the field of food safety. It will promote exchanges and cooperation with Cuba in establishing food safety standards according to the current legal procedures.

Minister María del Carmen Concepción González said that Cuba would further cooperate with China in establishing food safety policies and training laboratory inspectors.

Heads of the NHFPC food department and international cooperation department also joined the meeting.
