The NHFPC held a national health and family planning meeting on assistance to Xinjiang in Urumqi on November 4 as part of efforts to carry out the spirit of the secondary national symposium on the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and study and deploy assistance work for the autonomous region. Zhang Chunxian, secretary of the Party committee in Xinjiang, and Li Bin, minister of the NHFPC, attended the meeting and delivered important speeches. Song Jianye, member of the standing committee of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, also made a speech. Chen Xiaohong, deputy director of the NHFPC, hosted the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that health and family planning is closely related to people's health and is important to people's livelihood. Good health and family planning work in Xinjiang plays an important role in boosting local social stability and security. The meeting calls upon the national health and family planning system to study the spirit of the secondary national symposium on Xinjiang, grasp the central government's deployment for Xinjiang, focus on social stability and long-term security in Xinjiang, comprehensively carry out the NHFPC's 11 tasks and 47 measures, step up efforts to help Xinjiang in health and family planning, solve current relevant problems in Xinjiang, and boost scientific health and family planning development in Xinjiang.
