Introduction of World Family Organization
The World Family Organization, formerly known as the International Union of Family Organization, was founded in Europe in 1947 and headquartered in France’s Paris. It’s an international non-governmental organization and has a consultative position in UN ECOSOC and other UN specialized agencies. It is committed to maintaining the family’s role and welfare in society, boosting family happiness, and strengthening connection and unity of family organizations in various countries. The organization has a total of 27 institutions, and members are more than 100 government agencies and non-governmental organizations in more than 60 countries. Now, the president is Deisi Noeli Weber Kusztra. The organization has a total of six regional offices in Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific and Arab regions.
After 50 years of effort, the organization has carried out a great deal of work in maintaining family interests, boosting family development, and strengthening unity of family organizations all around the world. They’re committed to studying family welfare, organizing international conferences, exchanging experiences, and promoting international cooperation and exchange among family organizations worldwide. The organization holds a plenary session every two years. The WFO Council is the top leadership (every member has a seat on the council) and meetings are held irregularly.
Daily work is hosted by the WFO’s executive committee, which has a president and 11 vice-presidents (the president and five vice-presidents are selected by votes and the president of all regional offices are automatically vice-presidents). In addition, there is a secretary-general and cashier.
Approved by the State Council, the NHFPC officially applied to join the WFO in March 2000. The application was passed at the WFO plenary session on Dec 8, taking effect on Jan 1, 2001.
