Liberia Ebola treatment center built by China goes into use
A Liberia Ebola treatment center built by the Chinese government was put into use on November 25 in Liberia’s capital Monrovia.

Liberia President Johnson Sirleaf attended the launch ceremony and expressed gratitude for China’s aid. The treatment center is a witness of Sino-Liberian friendship. She hoped that the two countries can cooperate in more sectors.
Sirleaf visited the treatment center and praised its treatment procedure and equipment.
At the launch ceremony, Cui Li, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, and Ren Guoquan, minister of the health department of the PLA General Logistics Department, introduced the situation of the establishment of the treatment center, its operation and management, and China’s aid to Africa.
The treatment center is situated besides the SKD stadium and covers an area of 20,000 square meters, including the main ward areas, outpatient area, training center, storehouse and medical staff lounge. The center has 19 buildings and is equipped with 100 beds, which are built according to the highest standards of infectious disease hospitals.
After the establishment of the treatment center, it will be operated and managed by China. The Chinese People's Liberation Army will dispatch a medical team of 500 staff to operate the center for six months, observing suspected patients and treating confirmed cases. In addition, the treatment center will provide training courses for Liberian medical staff.
To date, China has provided a total of 750 million yuan to aid Ebola-affected West African countries and relevant international and regional organizations in the fight against Ebola. It also has dispatched more than 500 medical staff and public health experts to work in Ebola-affected West African countries.
