World Family Summit opens in Zhuhai

More than 200 representatives from governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations of over 50 countries and regions attended the summit. Representatives from the national health and family planning departments at the provincial (regional and municipal) level also attended the meeting.
The World Family Summit has been held 10 times since it first opened in Sanya, China. It has become an important international platform for world family fields discussing the subjects of world peace, safety, justice, forgiveness and unity. This summit, themed “Families in Balance: Building the Future We Want”, hosted a minister-level round table conference, local governmental round table conference, non-governmental organizations round table conference and plenary meeting. Representatives summarized the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and discussed the post-2015 development agenda, as well as how to help the family play an important role in boosting international development.
The Zhuhai Declaration was a major achievement of the summit.
