No.5 Reform for medical professionals training

On November 27, 2014, the Ministry of Education, the NHFPC and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly held a conference to deploy a reform for clinical medical professionals training. The central government subsidized 1.5 billion yuan to ensure trainees’ salary, support training base construction and attract excellent medical teachers.

No.6 Doctor-patient relationship sees improvement

“To build a harmonious doctor-patient relationship” was written into the government work report in 2014 for the first time. The NHFPC carried out a series of measures to fulfill the goal, including special actions to crackdown on medical-related crimes, implementing the “three goods and one satisfaction” activity to improve service quality, and taking efforts to mediate medical disputes between doctors and patients.

No.7 The activity of Maternal and Child Health Care Service Year

The NHFPC launched the Maternal and Child Health Care Service Year activity on April 17, 2014. Locals carried out a series of activities themed around maternal and child health, including national skill competitions of maternal and child health service, as well as publicity and education for maternal and child health.

No.8 Tobacco control legislation makes achievements

The NHFPC took great effort to push forward the legislation of tobacco control. Cooperating with the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, the NHFPC drafted the public smoking control regulations and solicited opinions from the public. It cooperated with relevant departments to revise the tobacco advertisement terms in the Advertising Law. It carried out tobacco control publicity and health education for the public, building an environment good for comprehensive tobacco control.

No.9 Disease emergency aid achieves periodic success

The NHFPC has strengthened disease emergency aid since 2014. By December 26, 2014, medical institutions across the country have aided 329,000 patients and applied funds totaling 1.6 billion yuan.

No.10 Hot issues spread medical science

The death of a lying-in woman in Xiangtan, Hunan province, on August 10, 2014, and the doctor selfie incident in an operating room on December 20 have attracted wide attention about medical-related reports. The incidents encouraged people to learn the limitations of medical science and further understand medical health work.
