Government calls attention to children left behind in rural areas

There are many reasons for this and other problems. For example, the household registration system has kept rural people from getting the same treatment as urbanites in various areas and social policies have failed to provide enough support for rural families in education, housing, social relief and other services. And industrialization and urbanization have contributed to it, while the urban-rural dichotomy is a problem that has been around for a long time. This problem needs greater attention and useful assistance: First, we need to improve the social mechanism for the left-behind people in rural area, with clear guardians who are responsible for protecting the children’s rights. For this, non-governmental organizations, local communities and individuals can be encouraged to provide support and cell phones and computers can be used to increase communications with the children to care for their emotional needs. Second, government departments should find ways to break up the urban-rural duality and eliminate any barriers to employment, medical care and housing based on residence to allow for the circulation of rural households and ensure that every family has policy support. It's worth noting that the government has proposed specific ways to increase urbanization, reform the permanent residence system, urbanize migrant workers and modernize agriculture.
