Zhenjiang holds 2017 national conference on tuberculosis prevention and control

The 2017 national conference on tuberculosis prevention and control was held in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province on August 21.
Wang Guoqiang, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) attended the conference and delivered a speech.
Wang spoke highly of the country’s achievements in tuberculosis prevention and control.
He summed up the difficulties and challenges in the field and pointed out that tuberculosis is still one of the major infectious diseases seriously endangering national public health. Prevention work is of great significance in achieving the goal of Healthy China 2030.
He called for health departments at all levels to improve medical service, promote the application of new diagnostic techniques and strengthen the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.
Wang also hoped that relevant departments will be able to solve the problem of prevention for multidrug resistant tuberculosis.
At the conference, experts analyzed the overall disease prevention and control situation in recent years, outlining the improvements in pilot projects specific to tuberculosis.
The health departments of Jiangsu province, Hubei province, Shenzhen and Zhenjiang shared their experiences on tuberculosis prevention and treatment.
