Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, meets with Secretary for Food and Health Bureau of Hong Kong.
Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) met with Sophia Chan Siu-chee, secretary for Food and Health Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing on August 31.
Li noted that this year is the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau have maintained closed ties and friendly relationships with health administrative departments across all levels in the mainland.
The NHFPC has always paid attention to the exchange and cooperation with Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau, according to Li.
Hong Kong has advanced and improved management systems in hospital management, personnel training and community-level health care, which is a good reference to mainland's health sector.
Li introduced mainland's health improvements and constructions of medical and health systems. She hopes that both sides will strengthen cooperation in providing better medical services for people living in poverty, technological cooperation and the planning of Greater Bay Area for health, coming together and improving people’s health conditions.
Sophia Chan Siu-chee expressed her gratitude towards the central government’s support of Hong Kong’s medical and health sector.
She said that Hong Kong’s health department is willing to further cooperate with the NHFPC in preventing and treating infectious diseases and non communicable diseases, health education and population aging.
Hong Kong is honored to make contribution in the constructions of Greater Bay Area and “Healthy China”, pushing forward the development of medical and health sector of mainland and Hong Kong.
Both sides also exchanged ideas on response mechanism for public health emergency, antimicrobial resistance, viral hepatitis and tobacco control.
Cui Li, vice-minister of the NHFPC accompanied Li during the meeting.
