NHC vice-minister meets with director of WHO western pacific office

Cui Li, vice-minister of China’s National Health Commission (NHC), met with Shin Young-soo, the WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific, on Oct 30 in Beijing.
Cui said China has shared a sound cooperation with the WHO Western Pacific office for a long time and fruitful achievements can be seen in various fields including development of health systems, health emergency programs, the prevention and control of infectious and chronic non-communicable diseases and healthy cities construction.
She added the two sides are expected to expand exchanges and innovate cooperation modes to make joint efforts on medicine and health system reform, global health management, health emergency programs, prevention and control of infectious diseases and training of global health talents. In this way, both Chinese and residents in the western pacific region will benefit.
Shin spoke highly of the health improvements made by China. He said his office will continue to support China’s efforts to build a Healthy China and remain deeply involved with international health work.
After the meeting, Cui, on behalf of the NHC, issued a certificate of appreciation to Shin for his great efforts in promoting the two sides’ cooperation since he took office a decade ago.
Shin planned to visit Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Shannxi province after the meeting.
