NHC vice-minister attends launching ceremony of HIV testing campaign
The launching ceremony of a one-month campaign on HIV testing is held on Nov 20 in Beijing.
Wang Hesheng, vice-minister of China’s National Health Commission, addressed a launching ceremony of a month-long national HIV testing and consulting campaign on Nov 20 in Beijing.
The campaign was designed to publicize Dec 1 as World AIDS Day and to raise public awareness of HIV testing so that voluntarily testing will become more common.
China’s HIV/AIDs prevention and control has made great achievements over recent years. However, the disease can’t be overlooked as it is still there, said Wang.
He added that HIV testing is the first step to detect and control the virus, and it’s critical to enhance publics’ awareness so that more people will take the initiative to test and to detect the virus in time and control HIV infection.
About 200 people relevant to HIV/AIDs prevention and control attended the ceremony and representative of disease prevention and control centers at the provincial level participated through remote video.
