Wang Hesheng, vice-minister of the National Health Commission, inspected the influenza treatment situation in Beijing Children’s Hospital, Capital Medical University, and the China-Japan Friendship Hospital on Jan 4, 2019.

Wang visited the two hospitals’ medical works and patients and held an unofficial meeting with the hospitals’ leaders and experts. He said influenza treatment is a major task for hospitals and other medical institutions at various levels. They must pay a lot of attention to the epidemic, form a response system, strengthen personnel training and standard treatment and promote early diagnosis and treatment.

He added that influenza prevention and control should especially focus on children, the elderly, pregnant women and those with underlying diseases, and patients in severe conditions should be treated in the best way possible to reduce case fatality rates and ensure orderly epidemic prevention and control.
