China, Germany and Japan hold high-level symposium on healthy ageing

Top health authorities of China, Germany and Japan held a high-level symposium on healthy ageing in Beijing on Apr 18. Ma Xiaowei, minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), attended the seminar's opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Ma praised the cooperative relations among the three countries. The cooperation on healthy ageing not only improves the seniors' health in the three countries but is meaningful for the whole world, he said, adding that China is willing to strengthen exchanges in the ageing field and promote the three countries' resources, complement each others' advantages for win-win cooperation.

Sabine Weiss, parliamentary state secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Health, and Yasuhiro Suzuki, chief medical & global health officer of Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare,  made speeches at the seminar. Over 150 people from health and aging institutions were in attendance.

The seminar discussed policies and practices on ageing, the seniors' health and the combination of medical treatment and health care, and the training of long-term nursing personnel.
