Medical waste workers play a vital role in disposing of the large amount of medical refuse generated in Wuhan every day. They are very close to the source of the virus and run a high risk of infection, but still devote themselves to fighting the epidemic.

The amount of medical waste has seen a huge increase after the epidemic broke out. "There are about 220 buckets of medical waste every day in our hospital, and one bucket weighs 15 to 20 kilograms," said Liu Zhigang, director of Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.

During the outbreak, medical waste management requires a stricter standard than normal times, and workers need to take various steps in garbage disinfection, transfer and handover.

Let's see every step of this intricate process.
