A young nurse couldn't hold back her tears as patients bowed in farewell to medical workers at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, Hubei province. The hospital is affiliated with Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Wang Jiaqi, a nurse of the Second Hospital of Jilin University and a member of the third medical team from Jilin province supporting Hubei, the epicenter of the epidemic, started her first workday in the hospital on Feb 9.

"To be honest, I felt a little frightened before I departed, but I knew it was my responsibility," she said. "In recent days, despite the hard work, I can still feel the warmth of patients' understanding and respect."

"The most beautiful thing in Wuhan is not the blooming sakura, but the grateful hearts of the people," she said.

On March 6, four patients infected with the novel coronavirus had recovered and were discharged from the hospital. Before leaving, they wrote letters of thanks.

"You are the heroes who work to save all the people of Wuhan," an elderly couple said in their letter. "We believe that after many years we will still remember you and what you have done to save our lives."

"Please come back to the city in your spare time after the epidemic is over," they said in the letter. "We will be here waiting for you."
