All people under home quarantine in Beijing must get an overall checkup, according to new requirements from city officials charged with epidemic prevention.

The rule came after a meeting on March 30.

Given the risks of imported coronavirus, all inbound travelers must undergo quarantine and receive nucleic acid tests, the city's leading anti-virus group said.

People who were stranded in Hubei province, the hardest-hit area in the epidemic, should return to Beijing in a safe and orderly manner. When returning to the capital, those returnees must undergo medical observation, under the new rule.

The city's leading anti-virus group also noted that monitoring, isolation and treatment of asymptomatic patients with the coronavirus are essential to reduce the threat of carriers.

As of noon on Tuesday, the capital had reported 164 imported novel coronavirus cases, with 20 people recovered and discharged from the hospital, according to the city's health commission.
