After one month's treatment, Liu gradually regained consciousness and the results of his three nucleic acid tests in late March and early April were negative, which means he has recovered from the COVID-19.

However, as it would take some time for his lungs to be fully restored to normal function, Liu, who still needed the support of a ventilator, was transferred to Zhongnan Hospital for further treatment with three other patients on April 14, the day before Leishenshan Hospital completed its mission and closed.

With the help of doctors at Zhongnan Hospital, Liu was finally able to sit up and breathe without the ventilator on Monday. Though it was still difficult for him to speak because of the weakness, Liu is now in stable condition and is expected to be transferred to an ordinary ward within a week.

Peng Zhiyong, director of the ICU at Zhongnan Hospital, said apart from the four patients from Leishenshan Hospital, seven other critically ill patients moved from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital are also getting good treatment and care, and one is out of danger.
