Tianjin reported a new COVID-19 confirmed case on the morning  of Dec 6, the granddaughter in a family with three infected members living in the Kanhaixuan residential community of Binhai New Area.

The Tianjin Headquarters for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reminded local residents not to be "too scared" after nearly two weeks without new infections, because the new case, a 6-year-old girl, was found during centralized medical observation.

The girl entered quarantine immediately after three of her family members were confirmed. She has tested negative seven times since then.

On Nov 27, she had symptoms such as coughing and runny nose. On Dec 2, her third IgM antibody test was positive, but IgG negative.

On Dec 4, both antibody tests were positive and she was confirmed as a new COVID-19 case on Dec 5. She was sent to a designated hospital for treatment.

Her grandfather, grandmother and father were confirmed on Nov 19, and she and her mother joined centralized medical observation beginning early the next day.

They were reported to be infected by a logistics worker in the imported food sector living in the same building as them.

The whole community was closed since Nov 20 and classified as high-risk, which was downgraded to low-risk this Friday.

As she is only 6 and needs care, she was quarantined with her mother, but at present her mother has not yet been confirmed.
