China's capital, Beijing, reported two asymptomatic COVID-19 cases from Wednesday to 4 pm Thursday, according to Pang Xinghuo, deputy head of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at a news conference on Dec 24.

One of the cases, surnamed Fu, a 34-year-old male, is a permanent resident in Beijing's Shunyi district. At present, the Lianzhuhuayuan residential community in Shunyi district has been fully closed to outsiders. Fu received a nucleic acid test because he was going to take the entrance examination for graduate school. Testing was required by the Beijing health authority for all students who are going to take the examination.

The other case, a male, lives in Financial Street in Xicheng district and works with cold chain business in a supermarket. He came to Beijing on Dec 6 from Tianjin. He took the tests required by the city's regulation on businesses, including restaurants and supermarkets.

All the close contacts of the two cases are identified and under medical observation.

Pang asked the citizens to take prevention and control measures seriously and not leave the city when it's not necessary.
