Cao Xuetao, vice-minister of China’s National Health Commission (NHC), met with Edgar Franck, parliamentary state secretary of German Federal Ministry of Health, in Beijing on May 16. They held an exchange of views on deepening bilateral health cooperation.
Cao said that in recent years, China and Germany have maintained sound health cooperation and exchanges. The two sides have held health dialogues on several occasions, jointly participated in government consultations, and renewed health action plans. Fruitful results have been achieved in the fields of health policy, population aging, health informatization, as well as COVID-19 prevention and control.
He briefed the German guests on the development of China's health cause and the country’s actions in response to COVID-19, noting that China hopes to work with Germany to continuously deepen their bilateral health partnership, jointly safeguard global health security, and promote the construction of a global community of health for all.
Franck praised the achievements of the health collaboration between the two countries in recent years, and expressed the willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation in healthy aging and cancer prevention and control, and to strengthen cooperation within such multilateral frameworks as the World Health Organization, so as to benefit the health and well-being of the people of the two countries.
