On April 25, Yu Xuejun, vice-minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC) and executive vice-chairman of the China Family Planning Association, met with Alvaro Bermejo, director-general of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), in Beijing to exchange views on bilateral cooperation in population and development.

Yu thanked the IPPF for its long-term support and assistance to China, and introduced the country's latest progress in optimizing its population development strategy, establishing a fertility support policy system, actively coping with population aging, and participating in global governance in population development.

He said that China will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the IPPF and work together to implement the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action and achieve the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Bermejo spoke highly of China's achievements in population development and introduced the recent development strategy and key tasks of the IPPF. He said that the IPPF is willing to deepen collaboration with China in reproductive health, maternal and child health and adolescent sex education.
