NHC minister visits Cuba

At the invitation of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Lei Haichao, minister of China's National Health Commission (NHC), led a delegation to Cuba from Nov 2 to 5.

Lei met with Cuban Vice-Premier Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, and held talks with Cuban Health Minister Jose Angel Portal Miranda for productive discussions on China-Cuba health cooperation.

Lei introduced the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee and the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. He said China and Cuba enjoy a profound traditional friendship, mutual trust and mutual support, recognizing the remarkable results in bilateral health collaboration.

China is willing to work together with Cuba, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries, to continue deepening cooperation, strengthening communication and coordination, and promoting the building of a global community of health for all, he added.

The Cuban side spoke highly of the friendly relations between the two countries and thanked China for its support and assistance. They said they hope to deepen bilateral practical cooperation in public health, medical education and traditional medicine, so as to safeguard the health and well-being of the peoples of both countries.

During their visit in Cuba, the delegation visited BioCubaFarma, Cuba's state-run biotech conglomerate, the University of Havana, as well as local medical institutions.
