Maternal and child health care service year kicks off

The National Health and Family Planning Commission launched an opening ceremony on April 17 to foster awareness of the importance of providing high-quality service in maternal and child healthcare.

Li Bin, minister of the commission, and Wang Guoqiang, vice-minister of the commission, attended the ceremony to mark the beginning of the maternal and child health care service year.

Minister Li called for efforts to creatively carry out activities to improve the service of maternal and child healthcare at all administrative levels in China. Local governments were asked to attach great importance to develop maternal and child healthcare services.

The National Health and Family Planning Commission and All China Federation of Trade Unions will jointly hold a competition to encourage specialists to sharpen their skills in providing maternal and child healthcare services.
