In March 2014 (from zero o’clock of March 1 to 24 o’clock of March 31), the Chinese mainland reported 559,816 cases of notifiable diseases, and 1,366 people died. There were no cases of Category A infectious diseases or related death reports. Among Category B infectious diseases,there were no cases or death reports of SARS, polio, highly pathogenic avian influenza and diphtheria, with 317,042 cases of other 22 infectious diseasesand 1,323 deaths. The incidence of the top five diseases were viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, bacterial and amebic dysentery, and measles, accounting for 93 percent of all Category B infectious diseases.
In the same period, the country reported a total of 242,774 cases of Category C infectious diseases, and 43 people died. The incidence of the top three were hand-foot-and-mouth disease, other infectious diarrheas and influenza, accounting for 92 percent of all Category C infectious diseases.
