In order to better implement laws and regulations regarding health and family planning and smoothly put forward the supervision and inspection of the implementation of related laws, China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission recently issued a work plan for the tasks between 2014 and 2017.
According to the work plan, China’s health and family planning sector is expected to complete as many as seven laws and monitor the implementation of 17 administrative regulations between 2014 and 2017.
In the year 2014 alone, the National Health and Family Planning Commission is expected to supervise the implementation of two laws: one regarding licensed doctors and the other regarding maternal and child healthcare. In the same year, the commission will also supervise the implementation of eight administrative regulations.
For the smooth implementation of the work plan, the National Health and Family Planning Commission held a teleconference on May 8.
Chen Xiaohong, vice-minister of the NHFPC, attended the conference and delivered a speech.
Chen pointed out that supervision and inspection play key roles for the good implementation of laws and regulations. It also serves as a critical measure in terms of deepening medical and healthcare reform. Through carrying out supervision and inspection, it is easy to spot problems and raise suggestions to improve medical and health laws and regulations, which can eventually improve the service and efficiency of healthcare in China.
Chen called for everyone involved in the healthcare system to make efforts to carry out the supervision and inspection of laws and regulations, which is a top priority for the national health and family planning commission. He asked all local bureaus to attach great importance to the work plan via a unified deployment plan.
He asked local bureaus to effectively correct misconduct during the supervision and inspection. If implementation is not in place, a sound suggestion must be raised to effectively improve the situation.
He also asked to build a clear, reasonable and effective coordination mechanism to gather all the resources to form a joint force to improve supervision and inspection and to make sure the laws and regulations achieve tangible results.
