China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Japan International Cooperation Agency jointly held a family healthcare and family development seminar in Beijing on May 7.

Experts from Nankai University, the China Population and Development Research Center, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the China Population Welfare Foundation attended the seminar.

During the seminar, experts from both China and Japan introduced family healthcare projects. Those in charge of family healthcare projects in Henan province and Hubei province introduced the progress of individual projects. Professor Li Jianmin from Nankai University introduced one of their research projects, known as the Chinese Family Development Report 2014.

Delegates discussed and exchanged views on training and evaluation regarding family healthcare projects, the trends of Chinese Family Development, as well as New Family Initiative, and offered some suggestions regarding the topic.

Those who attended the seminar agreed that family healthcare and family development are interdependent. The seminar is expected to boost family healthcare exchange and cooperation between China and Japan, as well as bring the successful practice of Sino-Japan family healthcare projects to other regions in China.
