Secondly, to secure a good result for this campaign, each region needs to set up its own promotional plan based on its individual situation. More efforts need to be done in poor areas, remote areas and salt-producing areas through strengthening knowledge dissemination and advocacy and securing policy and financial support in conjunction with the central government’s requirements on Poverty alleviation and development It is important to carry out different campaigns for different age groups, such as teachers and students, and raise public awareness of rational iodine intake. For those regions that have demand for non-iodized salt, it is necessary to take measures, such as through newspapers, to make the public aware of the locations to purchase non-iodized salt.
Thirdly, the campaign is a good opportunity to find out the actual situation in iodine deficiency disease prevention in China and timely report to the local government. It is key to set up a long-term mechanism to cope with problems that are found in the monitoring and evaluation process.
