Sun Zhigang, vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, met with Jean-Christophe Tellier, CEO of Belgium-based UCB, on Sept 24. Both sides exchanged views on pharmaceutical research and development.
Sun gave a brief introduction of China's drug policies and biological pharmaceutical research. While discussing UCB's cooperation with Chinese biological pharmaceutical enterprises and scientific research institutes, Sun said the cooperation not only benefits patients but also boosts the development of companies. Sun hoped that both sides can strengthen cooperation in academic exchange, talent training and experience sharing.
Jean-Christophe Tellier introduced UCB's biological drug research and development and said that the company will continue to strengthen cooperation with Chinese companies and scientific units as well as offer Chinese patients better drugs.
Taking part in the meeting were heads of the NHFPC's cooperation, science and technology, and drug policy departments, as well as presidents of UCB's Asia-Pacific and China branches.
