Deputy head of China's family planning and health department met with her French counterpart on Aug 21 in Beijing to exchange ideas about how to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
Cui Li, vice-minister of China's National Health and Family Planning Commission, welcomed the French delegation led by Jean-Philippe Vinquant, vice-minister of Social Affairs and Health in France.
Cui spoke highly of the achievements made by both sides over the past few years, including health policy, control and prevention of infectious disease, medical and health system reform, and household development, among other sectors.
On July 1, 2016, a seminar on elderly care was held by China and France, which greatly enhanced pragmatic cooperative efforts.
According to insiders, there is a huge potential market for old-age specific healthcare. Exchanges between research institutions and training of management and technical personnel should be encouraged to expand the industry, noted Cui.
Cui said over the past five years, public hospitals in both countries have conducted frequent exchanges, which has had a positive impact on public hospital reform.
China is willing to further promote information sharing with France and cooperation with France and African countries in health sectors of common interest, according to Cui.
Vinquant echoed Cui as he expressed his wishes for broader cooperation between China and France in the above areas.
