China will hold a high-level health meeting from August 18 to 19 in Beijing, according to an August 14 news briefing.

The “Belt and Road” High-Level Meeting for Health Cooperation: Towards a Health Silk Road, will facilitate communication in medicine and health between government ministers, senior officials from national and local health authorities, high level representatives from international health bodies, experts and scholars, and delegates from the health industry.

Four thematic sessions -- covering vaccine safety, maternal and child health, health innovation and hospital cooperation -- will be held during the forum.

A Beijing Communique, a general forum agreement, will be released and several cooperative agreements with countries including Mongolia and Iran will also be signed.

The forum is widely supported by international organizations, NGOs and think tanks.

About 300 people, including the director-general of WHO and health ministers from Mongolia, Cambodia, Laos and Singapore will attend the meeting.

The establishment of a “Belt and Road” public health network, a health policy research network, an alliance of sustainable health industry development and a hospital alliance will be announced at the meeting.
