In February 2014 (February 1 to February 28), there were a total of 372,800 notifiable disease reports in the Chinese mainland, with 1,132 deaths. There were no category A notifiable disease or death reports and no SARS, poliomyelitis and diphtheria reports. A total of 250,856 cases in 23 category B notifiable diseases were reported, with 1,104 deaths. The most frequent cases were from viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, bacterial and amebic dysentery and gonorrhea, accounting for 95 percent of category B notifiable diseases.
At the same time, there were a total of 121,944 category C notifiable disease reports, with 28 deaths. The most frequent attacks were from other infectious diarrheas, hand-foot-and-mouth disease and influenza, accounting for 90 percent of category C notifiable diseases.
