In December 2014, there were a total of 556,111 notifiable disease reports in the Chinese mainland, with 1,710 deaths. There were no category A notifiable diseases. There were no reports of SARS, poliomyelitis, highly pathogenic avian influenza and diphtheria. A total of 283,364 cases in 22 category B notifiable diseases were reported, with 1,695 deaths. The most frequent attacks were from viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, gonorrhea and scarlet fever, accounting for 92 percent of category B notifiable diseases.
At the same time, there were a total of 272,747 category C notifiable disease reports, with 15 deaths. The most frequent cases were from other infectious diarrheas, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and influenza, accounting for 94 percent of category C notifiable diseases.
