The mainland had a total of 598,089 identifiable disease reports and 1,369 deaths in the month of August 2015. There were three cholera cases but no category A death reports and no cases of SARS, poliomyelitis, highly pathogenic avian influenza, diphtheria or H7N9 avian influenza reported. In category B there were a total of 297,839 cases reported, with 1,360 deaths, with the most frequent problems being viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, bacterial and amebic dysentery, and gonorrhea, or 93 percent. In category C, there were a total of 300,247 identifiable disease reports, with 9 deaths, the most frequent problems being hand-foot-and-mouth disease, other infectious diarrheas, and mumps, or 94 percent. No filariasis attacks or deaths were reported.
