China’s National Health and Family Planning Commission recently published its Dietary Guidelines for Chinese, which give advice on how to improve health conditions based on their surroundings and eating habits.
The guidelines recommends that people eat a wide variety of food, especially cereals, fruits, dairy products, and soybeans and that they eat moderate amounts of fish, chicken, eggs and lean meat. They also advise people to eat less salt and oil and maintain control over their sugar and alcohol intake.
They provide special instructions for different population groups, including pregnant women, nursing mothers, infants below the age of 2, preschool children 2-6 years of age, and children and juveniles among 7-17.
